Possibility of emergency pump station shutdown in the pipeline with gravity flow sections

A study of the fluid transients caused by stoppage and startup of the pump unit at the pump station is presented. It’s shown the presence of the gravity flow in the oil pipeline can lead to the pump station shutdown. To avoid the emergency shutdown of the pump station appropriate arrangements are suggested.
