Application of invert emulsions enhances conformance in heterogeneous formations

World practice of oil production has been using invert emulsions since 1950-ies, mostly, for well killing and workover operations. Recently invert emulsions have found application for water producing intervals shutoff and conformance control. This also entails conformance enhancement due to increased fluid flow resistance of the most permeable formation intervals.
