Standardization and technical regulation

On the necessity of the GOST R development in oil and gas field facilities design on the continental shelf

DOI:

Support of the offshore field facilities design with proper regulatory documents is becoming more and more important task. While developing project documentation for the continental shelf field facilities construction, a design company has to apply a wide range of different documents containing identical, if not mutually exclusive provisions. Standardization in offshore field facilities design is to be developed by means of the development of the Russian standards GOST R, but not institutional or corporate documents.

Key words: Offshore oil and gas production, Technical regulation, Glavgosekspertiza, Standardization, GOST R

The description of maturation process for the Paleozoic deposits of the flanks of Caspian depression and Pachelma Aulacogen

DOI:

The catagenesis of Paleozoic deposits of Caspian Depression and its outline tectonic zones is reviewed in the present article. The nature of change of reservoir rocks at large depths and their connection with reservoir pressure have been analyzed. Applications of the methods of modern thermodynamic analysis based on the method of Gibbs and Helmholtz potentials minimization makes it possible to illustrate the essential role of the reservoir fluids in reservoir types formation and anomalously high reservoir pressure.

Key words: flanks of Caspian Depression, catagenesis of reservoirs, abnormal reservoir pressures, minimization of thermodynamic potentials.

The capabilities of palinologic method in defining of type and intensity of diffuse organic matter catagenesis

DOI:

There is a correlation between paleotemperatures, color and integrity of fossilized miospores, which are being a part of organic components of geological materials. We are defining the type and intensity of organic materials catagenesis by the composition of undissolved dispersed organics, and integrity and colour of miospores. Also we are showing the capabilities of palinologic method in evaluating the hydrocarbon potential of lower carboniferous deposits of Perm region.

Improvement of the development systems and enhanced oil recovery in pools of the Volgograd region fields

DOI:

The article includes the results and assessments of industrial perspectives of enhanced oil recovery methods in the fields of Volgograd region. The performed studies, calculations and results of implementation proved the possibility of oil recovery enhancement at the final development stage of the fields with fractured, low-permeability carbonate reservoirs by means of injection of fine-dispersed mixture of oil and gas (WAG injection). Created and implemented technologies of effective development of reef formations with carbonate, fractured reservoirs can be applied in other oil-producing regions of the country which will allow to preserve high rates of oil withdrawal and increase oil recovery.

Key words: development systems improvement, enhanced oil recovery, ejection disperser, water-and-gas mixture injection, additional oil production, production watercut decrease.

The use of tracers for reservoir characterization on the LUKOIL’s oilfields

DOI:

The use of tracers in the reservoir studies shows that this is the best method to evaluate the interwell space of reservoir. The following parameters are used for interwell space evaluation: tracer velocity in a reservoir; tracer concentration as the consequences of tracer dissolution in formation fluid flow; frequency of the tracer presence in samples. The use of tracer survey method can evaluate the vertical fluid flow barriers, reservoir continuity in every block, fluid-flow properties, and understanding of the reservoir architecture in the interwell space. The main result of tracer method is the ability to detect the ultra high permeability zones that cannot be found by other methods of reservoir analysis.

Key words: tracer, reservoir, water injection, filtration, phase permeability

Geochemical criteria for detecting of the areas of the oil deposits replenishment

DOI:

Key words: oil, modern day hydrocarbon inflow, replacement of oil reserve, geochemical studies of oil, formation and re-formation of oil deposits.

Oil of the Minnibaevskaya area of the Romashkinskoye oil field was studied using complex of geochemical methods. It was found that in Pashiysky horizon simultaneously there are oxidized, biodegrade oil and light oil with a high degree of gas-condensate component. Development of geochemical criteria of localization zones oil and gas inflow was initiated. The first results prove the effectiveness of the using of these criteria. Geochemical investigations of oils can be used to delineate areas of modern day oil and gas inflow in the developed productive oil reservoir.

Pressure difference monitoring at downhole screw motors operation is one of the effective ways of control of regime parameters and management of hydraulic energy at destruction of rocks in the process of wells drilling. Features of characteristics of these motors, depending on pressure difference, and the factors, influencing a choice of allowed pressure difference at operation and design of specified motors, are considered.

Scaling of relative permeability functions as a method of regularizing numerical solution of the water-oil displacement problem

DOI:

Key words: scaling of functions, relative permeability, method of regularization, numerical diffusion, reservoir simulation.

The article dwells on the problem of simulating discontinuous solutions in numerical models as exemplified by the oil-water displacement problem in porous medium with neglected capillary pressure (Buckley-Leverett problem). It has been shown that coarse sampling in numerical models enhances the process of numerical diffusion, leading to “blurring” of the displacement front. The work presents a new method to regularize the numerical solution of the water-oil displacement problem in porous medium by scaling the relative permeability functions, which enables reconstruction of the displacement front’s movement using coarse grid with no changes in the numerical scheme. The carried out test calculations have confirmed the applicability of this method.

Permanent reservoir monitoring by logging gages at the stage of tight oil recovery

Key words: reservoir surveillance, permanent down-hole gages, well logging, well testing, decline analyze, activities scheduling, production enhancement.

Development of low permeable reservoirs in Russia is gaining more and more active. In such conditions, the traditional methods of well logging and well-testing are very poor. They are replaced by permanent downhole monitoring of the development using logging gages. The concept of long-term monitoring includes not only a remote method of measurement in the well, but the feedback that involves operational use of accumulated information for the optimization and management of the oil field.

The use of chemical water composition information may be considered as an additional method for water influx source determination from production well. The solution of such reservoir management problems is achieved by means of hydrogeochemical indicators analytical control of oil-water saturated reservoirs ground salt waters. In addition, typical water types ùà hydrogeological horizons of oil and gas reservoirs regions are also determined.

The effectiveness of nozzles for mass exchange devices

DOI:

Key words: mass transfer of a column, a nozzle, organic glass, hydraulic resistance, efficiency, turbulization.

The article presents the researches of mass-transfer processes in the column apparatus with different attachments and their results. Experiments flow of liquid and gas phases are carried out, their hydraulic resistances are set. The authors defined the lowest value of the hydraulic resistance among nozzles: from Raschig rings and corner of nozzles. After processing the results of calculation the equations are obtained which satisfactorily describe the dependence of the coefficient of resistance of the load on the gas phase (from the Reynolds number of the gas phase). Promising corner nozzles, which help to improve the efficiency of mass transfer, are developed.

Description of operating procedure of submersible hydro cyclones

DOI:

Key words: oil industry, submersible hydro cyclones, separation ratio, computational fluid dynamics

A simulation model of workflow for submersible hydro cyclones was developed. It is established that increasing of the separation ratio k with the growth of the flow rate Q is explained by the growth of centrifugal forces acting on the mechanical particles. Growth ends when large-scale vortices form in the area of the stream turning to 180 degrees as flow rate Q continues to increase. Therefore, the dependence k(Q) is non-monotonic in general. It is shown that separation ratio can be improved by changing the length of the vortex chamber through decreasing vortex formation in the area of flow turn. The criterion of hydrodynamic similarity for the submersible hydro cyclones is suggested.
