Petrophysical framework for interpretation of Lower Devonian and Upper Silurian heterogeneous carbonate reservoirs: a case study from R. Trebs oil field

DOI:

Key words: dolomites, petrophysical dependences, reservoir properties, core studies, fractures, vugs, intergranular porosity, primary porosity, epigenetic secondary porosity, effective porosity, permeability, residual water saturation, void space.

The paper presents the petrophysical model of the Lower Devonian and Upper Silurian formations reservoirs on R. Trebs field. These oil reservoirs are characterized by a very complex architecture and geometry of the void space, which includes practically all types of voids such as genetic and epigenetic pores, fractures, solution vugs and molds. The main rock physics properties and their dependences are analyzed (porosity, permeability, residual water) for various lithotypes identified in the productive section. The study results are used to identify and validate common trends and patterns for the distribution of the rock physics properties of the reservoir rocks which belong to different lithological units, recommendations are given for the application of the obtained cross-plots for different development targets.

Lithofacial inhomogeneity influence on reservoir properties of the Lower Miocene complex at the Central area of the Dragon field

DOI:

Key words: lower Miocene reservoirs, litho-facial inhomogeneity, sedimentation model, reservoir properties, Flow Zone Indicator (FZI).

This paper presents the results of the sedimentology and lithology heterogeneity investigation in the complicated Lower Miocene clastic reservoirs and its relationship with the fundamental rock petrophysical properties (porosity, permeability) in the Central Dragon field (Cuu Long basin, Vietnam Offshore). Based on the seismic survey data, core lithological and petrophysical analysis data and the wireline logs the comprehensive complex analysis of the section facial characteristics had been done. The reservoir lithological heterogeneity analysis and the lithological (facies) contribution to the petrophysical properties (porosity, permeability) distribution had been evaluated with the special (advanced) petrophysical attribute – FZI (Flow Zone Indicator). Following the investigation, the highlighted depositional environments with improved reservoir properties had been determined. The research data can be used to refine the actual geological model and for the further geological prospecting objectives.

The inhibiting drilling muds and stability of clay rocks

DOI:

Key words: inhibition, drilling mud, clay rock, drilling, research, polymer.

The article considers inhibiting properties of drilling muds and stability of walls of wells. Traditionally used inhibiting drilling muds at well drilling in thicknesses of swelling clay rocks do not reduce operating time of excess mud volumes and do not provide stabilization well bore. For the first time, it is offered, the developed drilling muds stabilized cationic the polymers, not having analogs, one of which updating has successfully passed trade tests on well of No. 939 Astrakhan gas-condensate field.

Thermal processes, occurring in the well during column induction heating, are studied. The data, obtained in the course of theoretical and laboratory experiments, are considered. Results of testing the method of active thermometry in the conditions of fields of the Ural-Volga and the Surgut regions are analyzed. The efficiency of the thermal tags application at defining cross flows behind casing from the top, wells outputs and injectivities, during the study of multi layered objects and marginal wells, is shown.

Downhole and rotary sealing devices on the basis of multilayer elastic shells

DOI:

Key words: sealing device, elastic shell, pressure, deformation, stress.

The sealing element of downhole sealing device (packer) is divided into three independent vertical shells and possesses high compliance. 3.6 times packer deformation force decrease and multifold reduction in stresses, appearing in this case, is achieved at a pressure drop 50 MPa. The rotary sealing device (revolving preventor) is also developed on the basis of multilayer elastic shells to the pressure 21 MPa.
