The influence of heterogeneity of a clay component material composition on a reservoir petrophysical and filtration characteristics

Key words: mineral composition, clay minerals, water retention factor, effective porosity, permeability.

Quantitative relation is shown to exist between mineral composition of a clay component of rock and parameters of the petrophysical model of a polymineral terrigenous reservoir. A significant increase in confidence of permeability estimation based on well log data is achieved using effective porosity and a parameter accounting for influence of mineral composition of rock cement. An approach to parameter estimation for low-permeability zones with values below cut-offs is proposed.
