Methodology for smart well simulation and optimization

The approach for smart well optimization that can be applied to full field reservoir models is presented. The problem is solved by using commercial simulator coupled with an add-on controller program. The controller divides the full field model into several sector models and optimizes them separately by using Direct Search method. Thus the complex problem is reduced to several simple tasks. The approach having been tested on a generic field model showed good results.
