The article describes the features of the next edition of the World Energy Outlook (WEO-2018), which has a number of significant differences from previous similar publications, due to the fact that the issue of climate change is central to it. Among them - the emergence of new scenarios for the future development of the world energy sector (the main one is the Sustainable Development Scenario, and the additional one - the Future is Electric Scenario); increased attention to studying the role of electricity in meeting the world's growing energy needs and the possibilities for the further electrification of all sectors of the world economy; estimation of indirect greenhouse gas emissions associated with the functioning of the oil and gas industry.
