The technology of channeling control based on production casing cutting in the behind-the-casing flow interval

Key words: well, formation, behind-the-casing flow, production casing, cement slurry.

Channeling control technologies conventionally applied by Tatneft are characterized by rather low effectiveness. A new technology has been developed that allows replacing the cement sheath in the behind-the-casing flow interval rather than sealing it. The casing in the leaking interval is cut, the cement sheath and the mud cake are removed, and the interval is reliably plugged. The technology application is limited by production targets above the water producing intervals. To date, this technology has been applied in more than 60 Tatneft’s wells, and it will still be used in more wells.
