This paper discusses basic economic and organizational factors contributing to sustainable oil production along with innovative technology concepts. Considering the fact that most of the oilfields in Tatarstan are mature, these factors should be: tax incentives, setting-up of small independent oil companies, and restructuring of Tatneft OAO.
