Maximum allowable steam injection pressures for CSS wells at the Ashalchinskoye field are validated. A simulation study has demonstrated, that wellhead pressures of around 1.5-1.7 MPa can not ensure cap rock fracturing and steam breakthrough to the surface, provided that minimal cap rock thickness is estimated at 4 m, and excellent lateral homogeneity is observed. Steam breakthrough may occur only through local weak zones, for example, in the vicinity of poorly cemented wells, as well as through small-sized regions of higher fissures.
