This paper analyzes TATNEFT’s current hydrocarbon resource potential in the Republic of Tatarstan and possible ways of reserves and resources increment. Domanikits (shale oil) and hard-to-recover reserves, including heavy oil and tight oil, are considered to be additional hydrocarbon sources. This paper presents estimated economic benefits from application of reduced mineral extraction tax (MET) rate by the example of tight reservoirs and domanikits.
